Turnbull Hill Lawyers was established in Newcastle in 1969 to service the diverse needs of the people within Newcastle and the Hunter region.

The firm has established a reputation for exceptional client service and legal representation. This reputation has seen the firm grow to 120 staff today and provides a great opportunity for further expansion.

Locus has been working with Turnbull Hill Lawyers since 1989 and Locus Systems have been a key element of the firm’s service infrastructure.

David Flynn is Turnbull Hill Lawyers’ Operations Director. He and the Turnbull Hill team, including Project Manager Diane Easton, are responsible for planning and implementing quality processes and systems to ensure that the strategic objectives of the firm are realised.

David and Diane undertook a rigorous tender evaluation of practice management systems available in the market, with a view to selecting a new system to support Turnbull Hill’s business plans going forward.

David Flynn explains the firm’s approach to selecting a practice management system: “Our team conducted a search of the market for practice management systems that could provide a platform for achieving our strategic objectives. Having done this, we developed a detailed statement of requirements and invited a number of vendors to bid for our business.

It is our belief that for us to achieve our objectives we need to work closely with our suppliers, in partnership. So, it was imperative to select a system vendor who could not only provide the right software but could also demonstrate an understanding of our business needs. After exhaustive bidding and evaluation, we chose the Locus Affinity Practice Management System.”

Diane Easton joined Turnbull Hill a little over 12 months ago. A key area of responsibility for Diane is to lead the team of people who will manage organisation-wide change and to implement Locus Affinity.

In describing key issues to be addressed by the team Diane said, “We already have very advanced processes and trained people. This is an enormous advantage. However, as we set about implementing Locus Affinity, we wanted to strengthen our financial reporting, marketing and service delivery capability. The new integrated functions of Locus Affinity combined with the emPower Precedents presented a golden opportunity to do this. We are already streamlining processes by using the integrated workflow tools in Locus Affinity.”
