Kliger Partners, a medium-size law firm in Melbourne, selected the Locus Practice Management System to coordinate word processing and accounting functions, while strategically market to clients. General Manager of the commercial law firm, Prue Thwaites, explained: “Registering client information with Locus MasterPlan is the central focus of work done in the office. All the client’s details are entered once only and we can then generate cheques, accounts, letters and documents using the one data source.” The firm is well placed to respond to each client’s needs quickly and efficiently. For instance: “Solicitors can inspect all the financial information and documents by entering a client and matter number.” System Administrator, Julie Davis, has discovered the advantages of MasterPlan and managing temporary admin staff: “They quickly pick up the word processing aspects of MasterPlan and I know the end result will be consistent with that produced by our permanent staff.” MasterPlan also serves as a marketing database: “We send out different publications, in newsletters that focus on our client’s specific interests. With MasterPlan we can tailor our mailouts to the people who are interested in a particular aspect of the law.” To take control of the billing process, Locus recommended Automated Billing. Since its implementation, Automated Billing has sped up cash flow, with solicitors saving time in the billing process. “It’s easy for them, so they don’t put off billing. This helps avoid misunderstanding with clients because we are billing them regularly”, said Prue. “By billing progressively, quickly and informatively, we find out before a problem develops.” Kliger Partners speak highly of Locus support. During the introduction of the GST, Locus helped the firm tackle the difficult issues. Accounts Manager, Wendy Ferris recalled: “When a particular GST rule changed, it was sprung on everyone, including Locus. They were able to give me an interim solution that day. This was followed soon after with an upgrade disk to solve my problem permanently.” Wendy is the current chairperson of a Locus Users Group which meets regularly to discuss the common interests of Locus users. With up to sixty participants, Locus supports the group. They provide news items and help in reviewing current trends, opportunities and problems. Kliger Partners are happy to participate in the Users Group as it encourages the exchange of ideas and much can be learnt from hearing other users’ views on issues and procedures”, commented Wendy. We also act with one voice and approach Locus to suggest possible enhancements to systems. They are very receptive and methodical in dealing with our suggestions.” Locus provided Kliger Partners with a solution that tailored the software, support and training to suit the needs unique to the firm.
After attending Locus advanced training, Julie has created specialised, automated document assembly systems for the firm: “During a recent property development project, we prepared our precedent documents within MasterPlan and were quickly able to process the documentation for 150 separate property transactions.” Prue concluded: “Our clients now expect high quality and quick turnaround. If we didn’t use Locus, we’d have to employ many more people.” "Locus has increased the profitability and efficiency of the firm. It increases the quality of our output and frees up valuable time.” Please click here to visit our website: www.kligers.com.au Review our range of legal software Back to the list of our client experience
